OPSEC, My Ass

Well, the Army has shut down Lt. G. Even told him to delete it. City Girl took it over. I'll keep her spot on the blogroll because I know he'll be back.

'Net Scraps

Today's mandatory reading is the Colonel's column in the NYPost. Ya gots to love a writer that references Osama's "Clinton-era pep rallies" even if he does serve it up with a photo of the runner-up to Helen Thomas for the fugliest woman in DC. And no, twaren't Shrillary. Go forth and read it and return with your soul refreshed, mayhap even enlightened.

I must admit to more than a small twinge of doubt. On the whole, I'd be much happier if Mookie Al Goatcrap's pelt were hanging on our wall. Our enemies are not stupid, and may be trying to grease Bambam's move to the White House by laying low until January. For the sake of this country, I hope not. Another 9-11 strike would awaken and bring out the self-centered and ignorant and I don't think any one in their correct mind wants to see petulance married to mondo-lethal weaponry. "Early Bird Special on J-DAMs and MOABS at Bob Evans - comes with a B-one delivery system. Get it now while we can afford the maintenance..."

Now about Heller. Is it just me or does the vision of Chuckie Schumer, Sarah Brady, Diane Feinstein, Mayor-Daley-da-Turd, and all the other GFWs praying for a great increase in murders in DC bring a smile to your face too? Every time the laws have reflected the 2A the GFW come howling to the fences about the rivers of blood that will result from road rage and psychotic gun owners. Hasn't happened yet, don't expect it. What I expect is a LSM surge to attempt to blunt the effects of the ruling in the public's perception. Oh, and enjoy your perch-o-power, Nanny P. They'll be coming for YOUR law next... And YOURS, little Dickie Daley.... Oh, that's right, the NRA has already filed suit against Da Turd's fiefdom. Which brings me no end of pleasure because I remember March 30, 2003, you bloated bureaucrat pig.

Day of Hump Thoughts

Pelosi's whining about the whack-eco-driven non-drilling and "ten years" crap is really getting on my nerves. Is it just me, or should we have a constitutional amendment that all 537 of those elected morons (House + Senate + prez + VP) as well as the nine justices and the Cabinet all pass an Econ 101 class before they could assume office? At least then there would be no "ignorance" excuses - it would be willful pandering or deliberate power-seeking to attempt to destroy the economic well-being of the US. Oh, also suggesting that any domestic business or sector be nationalized in this country be punishable by permanent banishment to one of the socialist paradises where that sort of thing is done routinely by the local El Jefe. If it's good enough for the "little people", it's good enough for Maxine, Chuckie, The Admiral, Nancy, Bambam, et al. And forget re-activating the "Fairness Doctrine". If some niche radio can't pay its way and must be subsidized, it is a poor whore indeed. Next thing that the lib-ruls are going after will be the 'net, starting with sales taxes...

Back to the drilling/supply issue. Did the lib-ruls ever consult the folks who actually do the work for a timeline? Or did they depend on the SWAG* that one of their professors cobbled together over whine-and-cheese? This nonsense that the oil companies must drill on leased federal land or forfeit the lease is a statement of abysmal ignorance. Thanks to the eco-weenies/NIMBYs we have not built a new-from-the-grand-up refinery in 30 years. Although every one of our refineries has been modernized, that is no excuse for not increasing our refinery capacity with new units. And don't get me started on the "boutique" gasolines that have been rammed down the consumers' throats. Wonder what happened to Nanny Pelosi's promised 2006 plan to reduce gas prices if only there were a Democrat majority in Congress.. Oh well, looks like Nanny's bailiwick is gonna take it in the schnozz, so she'll have to defend her actions to the only people she fears - her voters. Let's hope for a lynching...

Sunday Schtuff

And another Sunday rolls arounds. I'm getting bloody tired of the stainless steel staples in me gut as well as the drains on each side of the incision. (Charlie couldn't reach it all this time through the old incision, so the new one is 4" longer. All south of the navel.) Pants are very uncomfortable and I have lost a little weight so a belt is mandatory. This does not help my world outlook. The L&T wife tends to treat me as if I'm made of glass, even though I don't feel that bad. I also promised that I wouldn't try taking the bike out until the drains are out. Me and me big mouth....

Son came home for a wedding this weekend and, as always, it's good to see him. He still hasn't fixed the car-that-was-mine with the money he got from his mother. He'd best do it soon, or he'll be saddled with a car note in addition to his bike note. Disentanglement from fiscal support is supposed to start this July. But whom am I kidding. As long as Momma has a coupla buck$ in her grouch bag, neither of the kids will ever be completely out of fiscal resources. But that's a part of the cost of being a parental unit, I guess. But he feels good enough about his situation. Next week he talks $$ with his boss. It'll be interesting.....

L&T went out with her ma yesterday and bought a couple of rosebushes, one from me and one from MIL. After she finishes lunch, we're planting them. Be nice to each other while I'm gone...

Succint But Heartfelt

I like to wish my lovely-and-talented wife a Happy Birthday - as well as many more.

U of C

Well, me ass fell damn well asleep during the nearly 3 hour graduation ceremony. I look at it this way - I figger I paid about $15-16K per graduation ceremony hour..... Went to Jungle Jim's on Sunday instead of Saturday but it still cost me over $130 to escape. Bought a bunch of stuff I don't see around here (jalapeno pistachios or chile-lemon pistachios? $5 for 5 pounds..) and re-stocked my hot sauce stash... Seems everybody had a good time. The L&T was not pleased that the Son had bought a Suzuki scoot and she was less pleased that I gave him a Walther P-38 as a graduation present. But Son was tickled to death.

Bought meself an iPod nano for Faddah's Day. 8 meg. So now I've got to xfer my vinyl to my desktop as mp3s and then xfer to the iPod for my listening pleasure. All I've got so far is Demento, Stones, and Jefferson Airplane so far - have more cds than time right now, but I will catch up.

Let the Church Say "Amen!"

SATURDAY!! SATURDAY at the bee-yoot-tee-full campus of the University of Cincinnati, my son will granulate from college (who said finally?). Damn proud of the lad for all the hard work he's put into his book larnin'. The L&T and MIL and I are rolling tomorrow to see the extravaganza. Daughter and SIL are coming down also, which means only one thing: a family trip to Jungle Jim's is in order for Saturday morning. If you are ever in the Cincy area and DON'T stop there at least for a peek, it will be your loss. I never saw another food store that had the USS Minnow (complete with hole in the hull) in their seafood department. Or carries canned fish tacos. Not to mention about 25 yards of shelves full of hot sauces up to and including 5 gallon bottles of Tabasco - about 1,500 different kinds.

Will somebody please throw the Indians an anchor?

Bloody WOW!

Imagine, flake/placer gold pressed ingots in "plastic bags the size of big packs of frozen peas " (Green Giant size, in my imagination). Sends a quiver down me spine. Nicely, though.

Would someone please throw the Tribe an anchor? Thank you.

Oh Bog! (My apologies, Col. Manny O'Kelly Garcia...)

Thanks a helluva lot, Rodger. Now I KNOW how screwed we are in November - McVain is an ABBA fan. That and the fact Michael Jackson is turning 50 this year are the two biggest eeewwwwww factors I can think of. Worst than Shrillary in a Speedo...

But Do They Get Combat Pay?

Even as an old card-carrying mostly-REMF from the RVN dustup, these Air Force pogues are taking it to a new extreme. From war zone to craps table and buffet in 2 hours....

With the cost of jet fuel (look at the AF burn-rate) increasing and the number of domestic flights shrinking, it's probably a good thing that the BUFFs and BOnes are our last bombers. But some how C-17 "Trash Haulers" doesn't have the same mystique as the B-17 "Bloody 100th".

Had a bit of a hissy yesterday and wound up sending some $$ to some of my favorite bloggers who have Amazon donation spot (unlike, say, Greybeard). Yah, it was part of the hokey rebate thing but at least I put it to good use. It's not like I could buy premium for the bike or good, dark beer...

How d'yer like me new paint job? Got tired of setting every URL link to red manually, so I'm tryin' a new layout that might be easier on these old eyes. Now I gotta remember how to set hit counters....

Day-yum

After all of the whining 'bout lousy 'net access at the Cleveland Clinic, I stuck in a "Thoracic Surgery Telemetry" ward that didn't even have that. I'm home (at least temporarily) and on me own lappie-toppie *sob* It was traumatic, Doc! But I survived...

Got an overweening (NOT whelming, and my interperetation is I weend, he didn't ..) response from my vast readership - Ok, one guy told me to get well and resume pumping out me own flavor of deep-fried bullshit - so the story of my 13 different roomies in the last month at CC will commence later. With photos.
