You Should Probably Skip This One

I've not been a thinker but more of a linker on DDb. I tend to link to things that stimulate my mind or reinforce my political opinions (like you don't do the same....). But the latest minuet in DC makes me want to bloviate. I will link appropriately, but the links aren't the focus. Me talk.

- Much ado about little on the shutdown. The proposed cuts total ~0.026% of the obligations that our Congress have made on behalf of the American people. Seems draconian to me...
- Cong. Paul has a good start with his proposal to attempt to rein in Medicare and Medicaid. But even that shows a $6 trillion addition to the debt in 10 years. (WTF? - "Winning the Future")

"The water has run downhill so fast! "(to paraphrase Doctor Bernardo de la Paz of Luna).

- There is a LSM bias-in-progress-toward-socialism that skips hand-in-hand with the Administration and will until there is fiscal blood (the LSM paychecks) in the water. I doubt if the LSM will be able to repair the damage to their credibility in less than 25 years/one generation. The 'net is a wild card - promote freedom or managed-to-be-captured-by-a-benevolent-government? What doth tomorrow hold? Right now, it looks bad for the freedom folks. Too many GO/NGO organizations see the power inherent in control of commo and want.

- Holder has got to go and his policies removed root-and-branch. Please show me the difference between white and black (and yellow and red) racists. I can't find one.... They all look like self-professed victims to me.

- Gorelick should be bastinado'd for a week or so and then shunned for a term not to exceed her natural lifespan. She is the Fifth Horseman of Malfeasance for Political Advantage.

- Threatening to veto a CR that has a rider to fund the military through the end of FY11 is not going to harm Hopey with his base of unicorn believers. But it won't help him with the rest of us and may bite him on the golf course.

- What's happening with the GZ mosque? Is it being promoted in the shadows?

- And from the Department of Eat Me Vladimir:
Sergey Ivanov, Russia's deputy prime minister, made the controversial demand during a visit to the United States where he met with top officials including Hillary Clinton, the US Secretary of State.

"We insist on only one thing," he said of the nascent US-backed missile defence shield. "That we are an equal part of it."

"In practical terms, that means that our office will sit for example in Brussels and agree on a red-button push to launch an interceptor missile, regardless of whether the missile is launched from Poland, Russia or the UK."
We'll get into another arms race at your peril, butt-monkey. You lost the last one badly. We need an easy foe right now, don't farkle with us. Remember Reagan succeeded Mr Peabrain..

Some observations....
