I Had Not Thought About This

However, a moment's reflection regarding the last 25 years of American military history draws these unpleasant observations :
Since the Vietnam War, no American combat leader above the position of company commander has faced a situation where his unit was at risk of defeat by an unexpected enemy attack.
Ever.
This observation ought to freeze the blood of commanders up-to-and-including-the-CIC.  But it won't.  And we will re-learn the lessons of  Kasserine Pass and  "Frozen Chosin" and Bull Run again paying the price in American blood.  Which all too happens NOT to be those who forgot the harsh lessons of their ancestors.
We live in interesting times....
