The lovely and talented Mrs. OM is a veteran (30 years) teacher who is now a principal (at a Cleveland inner-city parochial school) so I understand that SOME of these people are rational and grounded in real life. What am I to think when David J. Skorton, president of freakin' CORNELL UNIVERSITY honors that to-be-damned shooter at VT in the same ceremony that honors the memories of the victims of the shooter's insanity? Am I completely out of touch with any form of reality? Or have the Phelps brigade taken over all of the swamps of academe? Kee-Rist, even the liberals' favorite boogey-man ChimpyhalliburtonShrub didn't crack wise at a traditional humor dinner out of respect for the victims. (Woe unto his ass if he had - he would have been insensitive and hateful as portrayed on the pages/screens of the LSM. And then beaten up some more.) So this esteemed over-degreed-under-intelligent putz honors the loser.....
This bullshit that is droning out of the thug community in Cleveburg is almost as bad. A CCW permit holder sitting on his front porch shot and killed a 15-year-old. The neighbors have broken his windows, trashed his yard and forced Mr Wells from his home. (Did I mention the deceased is black?) A lot of rememberances including teddy bears and maudlin poems have been left at the site of the shooting. (Did I mention that 'Ace" Buford was also black?) (Did I mention that "Ace" was also awaiting trial for armed robbery?)

Is this a great country or what? Where else can an aging rock-n-roller write opinion pieces for CNN? Especially if he isn't full of crap like most of the Clinton News Network personnel? Like Tom *spit* Plate *spit* who cries for more government control of our lives... Too much has been said by those-who-would-shatter-the-Second Amendment after VT but that does not slow them down. All I ask is show me one instance where gun control laws reduced gun-assisted crime. Just one. ... ... I thought not. The Plateman might have a shred of credibility in Koll-EE-four-kneeya because he is a "professor of communication" but as near as I can tell he does not understand cause and effect and writes and looks like somebody that whizzed on the electric fence. Twice. I guess since he's gonna die soon he figures we should all join him in the Kumbaya circle.

Anybody else out there watching The Dresden Files on Sci Fi TV? I enjoyed the book series so I've watched the tube series. Not too bad - more than a smidgen of hokiness - but beats the hell out of reality TV and American Amateur Hour. I disagree with the casting of Bob and Murphy but on the whole I like the show. This, of course, is the kiss of death for any TV series....

The events at VT have been chewed up, regurgitated, chewed again and headlined. The Gray Ho has called for more gun control. Appears to be a serious disconnect in their reality channel. I'll support gun control when they can show me one instance of gun control reducing gun crime. Hasn't happened yet. God Bless the poor victims and the survivors, as they never dreamed that VT was unsafe and seemed to have no clue how to protect themselves. Now the families are paying the price....

America Has Screwed Up (and other stuff..)

You realize that the success of our American republic has been the cause of the scourging of the planet Gaia and plants and animals thereon. The US of A is single-handedly responsible for the deadly liberal. These parasites live on the fruits of real workers. Our society is productive and successful enough to fund these morons out of our surplus wealth even as they are those who would destroy our surplus wealth. Rather than empower people to better themselves they deal in a power struggle to maintain dependant classes of "victim(s)"and have a close "event horizon" for effects of the policies that are expressed and endorsed by libs.
Bah. A pox on all their houses. There is no one candidate I agree with 100% (and I sure as hell don't want the job) - wouldn't expect or desire 100% agreement. Heard good things about Hunter and Thompson (sounds like a purveyor of fine firearms or makers of fine bourbon, dudn't [spelt wrong, but that's how I heered it] it?) but their positions are vague at this point. Looking forward to the Democrat Party free-for-all as each candidate will triangulate and fight for the-right-focus-group-appeal , right Marxian message for the Move-On constituency and the right-to-be-Swift-boated.
I hear the drumbeat set by the MSM and am not impressed by the partisanship displayed. Don't they realize that a naked agenda can only draw like-minded individuals - and the weaker the mind, the more malleable and susceptible to media. I suppose that being up-front with your bias is "speaking truth to power" but I doubt it. Fox News Network makes the liberals foam at the mouth but they're not the ratings leaders for no reason. A minimum of alarm (this is broadcast media we're dealing with - "If it bleeds, it leads! Unless we can show Rove doing a perpwalk...." with what appears to be honest analysis. Sure, I spent some time telling Shep Smith to his pixelated face that he was full of it but a helluva lot less "quality time" with him than I did castigating Dan "Documents" Rather. And Cavuto may be brighter than both political parties' Presidential politician pools (think I hurt myself there...).
I have seen too many "from-the-front" reports to not believe that the change in operations and tactics presages good results. It'll be interesting for the next year over there...

The assault on non-politically-correct news/entertainment sources has begun. Call it paranoia if you wish, but I see a disturbing trend in the Imusization of free speech and refusal of the liberals to debate on FNC. A 90% lockstep to the PC piper is not sufficient, it must be total. The public schools are successfully indoctrinating 70-80% of their students.
And who is Tawana Brawley's liar to pass judgement on anyone else? I don't believe anyone died as Yankel Rosenbaum did in the Sharpton-inspired Crown Heights riots in New York, or lost their job, as the Duke lacrosse coach did, or their reputations, as Steve Pagones and the Cos did. (Have you heard anything about Bill Cosby since he actually "spoke truth to power"? I haven't either...) Race Warlord Poverty Pimp Extortionists AKA Jesse Jackson, Cynthia McKinney,Al Sharpton, Art McKoy, etc. have done more to damage race relations in the US of A than anybody since Bull Connor - and continue to do it remuneratively thanks to the feelings of guilt-over-the-distant-past they successfully cultivate in the liberals.
This crap has got to stop or there will not be a United States in any recognizable form in 25 years. The country may call it self the United States or Les Estados Unidos or the Caliphate of California, but it will bear no resemblance to the legacy that the Greatest Generation passed to the Me Generation. God help us. It's not like the Brits can.....

Back now. Spent the weekend with the daughter and her husband. And her three pugs. And the 2 new pug puppies (one fawn and one black). The fawn one has the market cornered on cute, but the black one has the "Damn the torpedoes - Full Speed Ahead!!" attitude that gets him run over by the other 3 full-sized pugs. I swear, the name of the town she lives in ought to be changed to Pugville. She has 3 plus 2 pups almost ready to be weaned and sold, her MIL has 4, and her husband's grandfather has SEVEN (including 4 pups nearly weaned).

Of course, having Stewie and Scarlett (black pug and red Min Pin, respectively) doesn't exactly make me a disinterested observer....

When is the Tribe going to play at the Jake? Instead we're making money for Bud Selig (yes, I know about the fiction his daughter runs the Brewers...) So far this season I think Harry Doyle and Monty are broadcasting the games....

Not Cheerful Today

Duh. So far between the Brits, Bela Pelosi, "John-I'm-an-ex-POW-McCain", AlGore, I'madinnerjacket, and the rest of the the buzzwads, seems to me that we are in for some real interesting times. If I personally had a crystal ball, I I'd probably see 5-7 years of attacks from fundie Islamists followed by dhimmitude by most of the continent of Europe. Meanwhile, open Mexican (and to a FAR smaller extent) Canadian borders will screw us - and it will get very bad after a BIPARTISAN bill is passed for illegal aliens to get citizenship RFQ. This will go down around 2009, judging from the present political climate.
After the US of A loses the Immie Wars, California, New Mexico, and Arizona (and at least one surprise state) will secede from the US and form an small power called something like Aztal.
Meanwhile, thirty percent of the residents make 95 percent of the money. Another 30 percent are shadow workers. Ten percent direct the lives of everyone else.
Thirty percent are living on the dole. This is not a good thing, as those folks are the ones that can vote themselves bread and circuses.
This happens to be where Great Britain is at. At least in my view. The story regarding the teachers not teaching anything regarding the Holocaust because-it-may-upset-the-Muslim-students strikes me as the British Isles "jumping the shark" as a First World power. Now Great Britain seems to be on a par with France.
Some of us in blue areas (aka Cleveland) will do our best to hold out of the onrushing liberal wave. Then we'll do better...

One more day until spring finally arrives for real. No joke. MLB starts the 2007 season Monday, so buckle up and let's ride this puppy. I will admit that I've known since Tampa Bay beat the Tribe in the 7th game of the Series thanks to Joe Table that I won't live to see the Indians win the Series. I also won't live to see the Browns in a Super Bowl. Not win it, mind, but get there. Horseface and the Broncos fixed that... BTW - the Cavs suck too. They have all the guts of the Blair government facing Iran and will get rumbled in the first playoff round. Nobody on the Cleveland sports scene appears to have the fire in the belly or eye of the tiger or whatever. Except maybe Drennan .
Speaking of Blair, what the hell is going on in GB? Slap an armature between the knees of that dead half-American politico Churchill and he could power half the country he's spinning in his grave so fast. As the Rabbi says: England's new war motto is "We shall not fight them on the beaches, we shall not fight them on the seas" (hat tip to the Rottie). Tis enough to gag a maggot, it is. And thanks to the Democrats and liberals, the US of A isn't far behind Jollie Auld.
