OODA

Observe, orient, decide, act. OODA, as an acronym. It deserves as much publicity and usage as IAO (improvise, adapt, overcome).
A gentleman by-act-of-Congress named John R. Boyd discovered the principles of OODA. (His contemporaries seemed to have slowed his career to the point of stop). And sacrificed his career on the altar of the United States. He didn't see the fruits of his thoughts in the GWOT. Mental flexibilty and acuity as evinced by Col. Boyd is a force multiplier of the first water. It is also a renewable resource if nurtured properly.
But be damned glad officers like Col. Boyd are still in our military......

CUMP-nee! Tench-HUT!

HAND SALUTE!

AT Ease...

Vaya con dios, Colonel. RIP..... Yes, I understand you've been gone for years - but your legacy lives on.

(Thanks and the usual hat-tip to Iron Cross 11 for reminding me of the OODA cycle......) Just added his site to my "blogroll" - as if y'all care.... But he's worth it.

Thanks for the comment and the blogroll listing. I got a hit and it brought me here but when checked the blogroll link, it didn't work.

If you haven't read Grant Hammond's "The Mind of War about Boyd, go pick it up. It's an amazing read and not quite the puff job that the Bio was. Way more into the theory and philosophy.
