May God bless all of my brothers and sisters in arms past, present, and future as the American people (mostly) honor the "lives, fortunes, and sacred honor" that shaped a world-beating idea into a constitutional republic and maintain it to this day. Honor to all of you who ever wrote that blank check to America, redeemable for up to and including your last breath of life. The path has never been easy and is often bloody and awash in tears, but the end result is a beacon of hope in a dangerous world. Thank a veteran today for the freedoms still part of our lives today.
And spare a moment to think of those who payed the ultimate price from Concord Bridge to Fallujah.
