GOOD day inna field

Had a REAL good day in the field. But as we all know, a bad day in the field beats a good day in the office..... When I left home 'twas about 30 degrees with snow on the ground. Got here and it was 76 and sunny. Hard to take . Working with real good folks and the system almost makes sense. One of the guys workin' with me left South Vietnam when he was 5 and asked a lot about the past.
I'm working in an area that depends on fishing and shrimping with a lot of Vietnamese immigrants. Hearing the musical tones of the language and accents of VN immigrants blasted me 35 years into the past immediately..... What a long strange trip it's been...

NEXT DAY (12-31-05) - the cheesy computer owned by the Agency-I-dare-not-name had a silicon brainfart yesterday (as opposed to my wetware brainfarts) and I had to wait until today to post the previous drivel. 'Nother good day today - high 'bout 74 as opposed to 34 back home. My-lovely-wife-the-Boss is suffering thru that cold weather nonsense. Recovered a lot of dangerous stuff that could negatively affect the local citizens.
Lots of the folks I'm working with are hustling downtown to celebrate New Year's - they seem puzzled because I don't want to go with them. Nothing personal, but BTDT-WOTTS (Been There, Done That, Wore Out The T-Shirt). The fact that I'm 20 years older at least than most of them might explain the decision. But it was nice to be asked to go. Instead I fire pixels into the blog-on-the-'Net and am happy.
So let me wish all the 'Netizens a safe and prosperous New Year. Take care of yourself and yours - including the furkids. Remind me to tell you in a future post about the two huntzies I work for.... and seem to own the house without paying bills....

A Kwickie!

Hoo boy... Courtesy of http://rschultz.blogspot.com/ I was introduced to the time-killer-guilty-pleasure http://chir.ag/stuff/sand/. Artsy-fartsy for geeks.... I hope you'll blow most an hour like I did.....

According to http://ace.mu.nu/archives/147427.php (another good blog with a propah attitude), bloggers owe their adoring public an end of the year list.
Bollocks.
End of transmission

How y'all doin'?

LIVE! From the garden spot Camp Swampy! It's WEDNESDAY NIGHT LIVE.....
If any of y'all hunt or shoot for fun (or even just collect shootin'"arns"), I'm sure you are familiar with http://www.theothersideofkim.com/ and http://www.thedonovan.com/. As Benny Hill used to say: "You don't get many of those to the pound!". Both gentlemen are talented writers with a rock-solid American base (particularly the African-American, DuToit) and a collection of firearms that could cause shortness of breath in the viewers of said collections.
I'd also like to plug another fine blog written by a wobbly that was contemporaneous with me in 'Nam - http://pitchpull.blogspot.com/. Found him after he was my first commenter here - and he writes a fair schtick as I see it. 'Course the fact that we share a lot of attitudes helped my assessment of his writin'. Stop by Greybeard's hootch and see for yerself.
If ya give a rat's rectal storage area what I look like, go see the Acidman's blog here -http://gutrumbles.com/archives2/004045.php#004045. He's just out of rehab, the crusty ol' bastard, and needs some love (in a manly way, of course. Unless your toenails have red polish on 'em...). He's also funnier than a fart in church and as sharp as a sour orange screwdriver. Good read.

Oh yeah, RE: why the NY Jets are essential to my son's very existence....... On my 20th birthday (21Sep1970), I went on the first date with my wife while on special leave between my two tours in 'Nam. We went to Municipal Stadium and watched the Browns beat Joe Namath and the NY Jets in the first-ever Monday Night Football game.
If we'd never had a first date, he wouldn't exist... Now as to why the Catholic school system was the reason we had a first date, I'll cover that in a future post. (No, I was raised Dutch Reformed.... Try again, Bunkie...)

Goooood Afternoon N'awlins!

Yes, I am currently at "Camp Swampy" (waitin' for Gen. Halftrack or Lt. Flap ) in Metarie, LA. This is the CP for the federal cleanup efforts of the effects of Katrina. But that's not why I plugged in and posted.

GO HERE NOW. http://michellemalkin.com/archives/004167.htm (Dunno how to do trackbacks, so I'm fakin' it.) The young lady is as bright and erudite as she is attractive - and she uses a Roomba! (Take THAT, technogeeks....) All six of the present sides in the political shuffle (think there aren't 6? THINK!) are struggling with the 800 pound gorilla known as transnational socialism - some embrace it, some abhor it - that has given birth to the Islamofascist terrorist movement. The fact that the Islamic tranzis insist that we become Muslims or die makes the choice pretty much a no-brainer to me...
"But Oldman, Bush LIED!!! There WERE no WMDs in Iraq! He LIED, our troops DIED!!" I hear coming from the thinking-with-the-medulla gallery. Would y'all know binary munitions unless there were fired atcha? But according to the NYT, there weren't any. Well, other than the 3 dozen sarin-filled 155 shells that the Marines found. And the binary shell that fizzled when turned into an IED because the contents hadn't been mixed courtesy of the rifling-imparted spin.... Not to mention the binary components and empty 155 shells captured at the airport (load 'em just prior to firing for that "new deadly gas" smell....).

Bah. Those of us in "fly-over" country know better. After all, there are a LOT more Midwestern American alumni in the services than Ivy League... And as soon as the war is over and it's safe to do so, we'll turn the country back over to professional politicians *spit* JohnKerryHarryReidPelosiClintonandSchumer-the-asshole *spit* and go about the important business of raising a functional family *cough*Kennedy*cough* unlike the coasts....

But that's just MY opinion. Your mileage will probably vary....

Anybody else notice the Jets lost the first and last MNF games by the same score? Just askin'...

PC be damned....

Merry Christmas, peeps, and a Happy New Year. Also a shout-out to my daughter whose 25th birthday is today. One thing that really chaps my ass is her whining about being "halfway to 50 years old" when I can barely see 50 in the rear view mirror.... But gettin' old beats the alternative.

And another year without a Michael Moore obituary draws to a close......

First

.. a link. My first, and I don't know how to do it except this way: http://www.killcastro.com/blog/2005/12/educational-reading.html

This should be read on the floor of Congress to attempt to "edumacate" those members of Congress who were "granulated" from the public school system controlled by PC "educators". History unlearned is history repeated, identical to doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is a working definition of "insane". Not to say that the lesson wouldn't be ignored and reviled if Congress were forced to hear it, but it MIGHT make the MSM...

Yeah right. BTW - read somewhere in the b'sphere that university researchers discovered that the MSM was liberal-biased. To steal a phrase fom Dax Montana ( http://www.daxmontana.net/) - "Just Damn!". Who knew?

Cue the "Twilight Zone" theme music.....

Well, chirren and chillin', I am committed to running this blog for at least the next 13 months. Why, you ask? Very simple, he answers - I fired my 15 picks off to the Feeder-of-Nardo about 3 minutes ago and am waiting to find out how many previously deceased I picked. But the fun is in the playing, yes?

Yeah, right. It'll be an okay year if I pack at least 2 of my picks into never-again-to-eat-spumoni land, it'll be impressive as hell if I get 5 or more. Getting shut out would suck rocks - although I'd cheerfully take that if Michael Moore eats a bad weenie and dies of EXTREME gastro-intestinal distress. Even if I didn't put that weenie on my list I can hope... But I also picked some folks that I consider to be a waste of human skin and oxygen uptake. But short of the Posleen paying us a visit I don't expect to clear the board.....

As I was sayin'......

So here I am - got to pick out 15 folks I think will assume room temperature in calendar year 2006. Not run-of-the-mill stiffs, either, but big enough wheels to merit notice of their passing in the news media. Can't pick folks due for a lethal injection (or hanging - that's still good in 3 states) or do-it-yourself removal. Only have 9 semi-hot subjects, but I've got until New Year's Eve to submit my list. (Any suggestions will be considered.) Dunno if I'll crack the top predictors but I'll give it my best shot. After I submit the list, I'll blog about each pick and give my reasons/explainations.

Oh, WRT the URL.... Never having been one to do anything the easy way, I tend to run counter to the crowd activities.... While several thousand of my cohorts were haulin' ass north to avoid a little thing called the draft, I enlisted in the US Army and did 2 tours in Vietnam. As an ex-sergeant, I naturally have an adversion to being mistaken for an officer.... Over the last 20 some years my son has heard me state "Don't sir me!" more times than he cares to recall...
So he paid me back with the URL...

Remind me sometime to explain why the NY Jets are essential to my son's very existence.......

Into the breach...

I have read too many blogs. My son has a blog - and set this up for me so I could fumble my way onto the 'Net.

But it's ALL Laurance Simon's fault.... Y'see, part of his Houston Empire at http://isfullofcrap.com is a dead pool. I've wanted to play for the last 5 years but was too lazy to set up a blog and qualify (see rules at http://deadpool.isfullofcrap.com/oldcrap/2005/11/rules_for_2006.html and play along.....)but after I read that he wouldn't let his MOM play without a blog, my duty was clear - I called my son and told him I was going to hijack his blog. He said it would be easier to make a new one...

This is it. Remind me to explain the URL next post.....
